We exist to make the world a little fairer.
1. We create children’s libraries that feel like home
Our libraries are warm, welcoming spaces where every child can find a story that speaks their language and their heart. Each one is filled with diverse, multilingual books that reflect the world’s many voices and imaginations. Built with communities, they’re places to not only read, but also create and ultimately belong.
2. We bring stories to life through creative workshops.
Our reading and art programs turn storytelling into connection. In these sessions, children experiment across art forms - from writing and illustration to photography, theatre, and sound. They express what words alone can’t, rebuilding confidence, language, and trust through creativity and play.

Lilipad’s work is grounded in two main countries: Germany and Morocco, different contexts, but a shared focus on reaching children who are too often left out, in particular those living in shelters.
In Germany, we focus on Berlin, where many refugee and migrant children live in transitional housing with limited access to multilingual books, reading support, or creative spaces. Our Berlin libraries are designed to be small sanctuaries for language, imagination, and belonging.
In Morocco, our work spans Casablanca, Agadir, Marrakech, and Mohammedia, with a focus on supporting marginalised girls. Our libraries and workshops create space to foster resilience and wellbeing through creative expression, cultural connection, and feminist storytelling.
Lilipad also completed previous projects and established libraries in Jinja (Uganda) and Paris (France).
