What our work makes possible over time
lilipad libraries create spaces where children can spend time with stories. The impact of these spaces unfolds gradually. By returning week after week, children build confidence, discover their voice, and begin to feel a sense of belonging in a place that is truly theirs. We don’t define our impact in single moments or short-term outcomes, but by continuity: returning regularly and allowing confidence and curiosity to develop at their own pace.

What change looks like
Connect children with culture so they can find their voice and build a sense of possibility.
Access to Culture
For many children living in shelters or institutional care, books, libraries, and cultural spaces are limited or entirely absent. lilipad libraries offer access to multilingual books, storytelling workshops, and creative programmes that place children in direct contact with literature, art, and cultural life.
Over time, libraries become spaces children return to regularly, where curiosity and imagination are welcome.
Expression & Narrative Ownership
Stories allow children to explore who they are and how they see the world.
Through reading, writing, drawing, music, theatre, and photography, children begin to express ideas, emotions, and experiences in their own way.
Creative practice allows children to not only consume stories, but also to create their own, and see their voices taken seriously.
A Renewed Sense of Self and Possibility
When children experience safe, culturally affirming spaces, their confidence begins to grow through small moments. As they experience finishing a book, sharing a story, performing a poem, or showing artwork to others, children begin to see themselves not only as readers or participants, but as individuals capable of shaping their own stories and futures.
